C h i l d r e n naturally develop to their fullest potential and at their own pace if provided with the proper environment. Each individual child is a treasure, with their own inherent creative gifts, and it is our goal to gently allow these to emerge in a respectful and stimulating environment.
P a r e n t s grow as they share experiences with children and other families in the Sunnymont setting. Our parent education aims to foster interaction between adults and children that is dynamic, harmonious, and mutually respectful.
For the Children· Creative play: open-ended art and science projects, music, movement, cooking, water, sand, mud, etc.
· Encouragement to explore and mature at the child’s own pace, promoting a strong self-concept
· Opportunities to develop as a “whole” child - physically, socially, cognitively, and creatively
· Acceptance of all feelings and guidance to express them appropriately
· A high adult/child ratio providing ample individual attention
For the Parents· Support in developing skills working with young children
· Opportunities to gain understanding of children’s behavior and development
· An opportunity for parents to be involved with their child’s education
· A community of supportive parents
For the Families· Participation in the operation, administration and maintenance of the school
· Aiding in the class one morning or afternoon per week, under the direction of a credentialed teacher
· Parent education meetings
